Primary schools in Zimbabwe charge fees for each child. Unfortunately, many families cannot afford to pay those fees. To help some of those families educate their children, we created WeCareEd. It pays fees for students from Grade 1 through Grade 7. Families, which receive help, are selected by a committee that includes Headmasters and other officials.
Many in Zimbabwe, who cannot afford beef, supplement their diets with fish. Consequently, demand for fish is growing and to meet that demand, fish farming is becoming increasingly popular and growing into a major protein producing industry.
CCIP-Zimbabwe is part of that industry. We provided funds to excavate several ponds. And to stock them, we provided funds to purchase fish. Today, several communities have their own fish ponds and enjoy catching fish for dinner.
…..grows fresh greens for the community. To help local residents, Tariro Gardens offers workshops that are intended to aid local residents in starting and maintaining their own gardens.
We started with the nutritional gardens, and have developed gardens in our community and neighboring communities. People come and seek knowledge on pest control , how to grow and marketing strategies of various crops. They also seek to know the benefits of the crops they grow nutritiously.
A recent micro loan enabled two women to purchase chics to start a business that sells eggs.
The purpose of the micro-loans is to assist individuals, groups and organizations who require financing to start or grow their project ventures.
The plan is for us to finance and help manage their projects whilst they pay back the start up capital at agreed-on incubation periods. After those periods, they are set free to manage their businesses on their own.
A Chief had a dream of establishing a Skills Training Center, to train students in basic skills for making a living. He took us to the plot of land, on which he wanted the center to be built. We were impressed enough with his dream, to send mission teams to help fund, and build the training center. Fro several years, our teams worked alongside construction crew members to build the center. When it was completed, we had a team present to help with its dedication.
The Skills Training Center is a project managed by the Mutare District of the Zimbabwe Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
We learned the community of Chitakatira, which has a primary school consisting of 2,100 students, needed a safe source of water. So CCIP-Zimbabwe provided funding to construct a water well. At its completion, a cholera outbreak had occurred. So the well became a life-saver.
•Sunflowers are a drought resistant crop, which does not need plenty of rain or irrigation. They do not require much labor to grow, tend, and process. Where there is irrigation, farmers may have two crops in one year. Sunflowers may turn into cash as soon as it is harvested. Our goal is to get our processing facility in operation, again, so we can process the seeds that are purchased from farmers into Sunflower oil.
The cost for shipping one book is $10.00.”
Help us ship as many books as possible.
We want to make a Christian difference in a marginalized rural area of CHITAKATIRA, where there is a primary school of about 1600 students and a high school of about 900 students.
WE BELIEVE that as women’s income increase and assets increase, so does their decision-making power and their ability to invest in themselves and their families.
By helping us support the Sewing Club of 18 ladies, you can help expand economic opportunities for these women and help them strengthen their families and communities and the economy.
The Sewing Club is the leading supplier of school uniforms and track suits in the area. Recently, they began training students from area vocational colleges. In order to reach their full potential, they need more space, which means being able to afford a bigger building.
WeCareEd supports elementary students only, specifically students that do not have a means of support from parents, grandparents or guardians to pay their school tuition. This tuition is presently costing from $90 to $120 per student annually.
The amount does depend on the school, as each school has their own rate structure. In the WeCareEd mission there are 3 accounts.
One is the general WeCareEd account for which we seek funding for and this account provides the primary funding for 60 students in 6 different schools.
The 2nd account is supported solely by the Andover United Methodist church for 20 students at one location.
The 3rd account is the Hillsboro United Methodist church where 10 students are supported at the Fern Valley Primary School. This mission project from 2016 to date has grown from the initial start of 20 students to 90 students for 2023. For 2023 all student school fees have been fully paid.
The two church accounts are fully funded by each church. Those two accounts are in good condition for the upcoming 2024 year of funding.
The general WeCareEd account supporting 60 children however is in need of additional support so 60 students will receive full funding for 2024. To fund all 60 students for 2024 the account will require contributions of about $4000 by year end 2024.
Here is the question...Would you consider making a contribution to this account? We are seeking added funding at this time so we will be able to continue with all 60 students. Undoubtedly you all have various projects you provide support too, as we all have. We do not want to infringe on your support of these passions, but would you consider supporting this project for primary student education?
